Why HARA?
HARA, in Japanese, is achieved when an individual integrates their physical, psychological and spiritual identities enabling them to lead with focus, balance and authenticity regardless of what is thrown at them.
Achieving HARA, as a leader in most organizations, can feel insurmountable when you are constantly faced with shifting objectives, subversive political agendas, and toxic team dynamics.
Wouldn't it be amazing if you could, like Wonder Woman (or Superman), use your golden bracelets (or innate strength) to ward off all of the above and save the world? Save humanity?
Let's start with saving yourself. How might we achieve all of your personal goals, as an individual, a mom, a dad, a good friend, a colleague, a leader, a human being?
Using our unique methodologies, HARA Advisory specializes in helping leaders like you embody your HARA, so you can achieve your personal and professional goals.

Never.
Is your team clear about their purpose? Do they meaningful connect to why this team exists within the broader company context?
Where do you see this team long term? What will it take to get there? How, as a leader, are you supporting that vision?
As a leader, do you know where you stand with others relative to your own perception?
When was your last 360 Assessment and/or Personality Assessment completed? Are you clear about your strengths and opportunity areas?
How are you getting from here to there? Are you clear where you're starting from and where you're going? What are you choosing NOT to do? What goals have you set for your team? These should be specific, realistic and measurable. How will your team know they've been successful when you get there?
What organizational systems are you working withinn? Beyond purpose and vision, we'll artilcuate your team's ideal capabilities, optimal structure, roles, processess, incentive systems, and cultural rituals that are important for your team to be successful.
A leader is only as strong as their weakest link. How have you designed your team to offset your strengths and opportunities?
Are you hiring the right people? What capabilities Is your team clear about your expectations? How are you empowering them?
As a leader, you'll be making changes with and alongside your team. Have you reconciled the feedback you've heard? What can you accept? What are you willing to change or not change? Are you walking the talk? Since most change takes 6 to 18 months, are you in it for the long-haul?
My purpose is to help leaders embody their HARA, with creativity, humanity, and empathy.
I have spent the last 20+ years in corporate (Oliver Wyman, Citibank, JetBlue), innovation consulting (IDEO), and family-owned businesses (Walton Family, The Heritage Group) in NYC, San Francisco, London, Berlin, Bentonville and Indianapolis. I have seen it all and have the battle wounds to prove it!
While I do have a Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology, I believe my training as an executive NeuroLeadership and Somatic coach is what helped me stay sane, mostly, through it all. My career path has not been linear or expected, so I understand what it means to switch careers, relocate, receive tough feedback, and hold others accountable. Being a leader today is hard.
There are three things I am known for:
Synthesizer. As a recovering organizational designer, I understand how businesses are structured, and the challenges leaders face leading change in complex ecosystems. I'm good at taking some complex stuff and simplifying it in it's simplest form. I'll dive deep into your organizational system to understand what change is possible and what is not.
Empathizer. As a former IDEO human-centered designer, I always start with empathy, understanding where you are at, right now. What do you need versus what you want. I am a sounding board, cheerleader, and yoda. I hold your struggles too until we can work them out together.
Driver. In all of my work as a change leader, I know how to get from point A to point B, navigating through complex ecosystems. We will define a clear vision for change, develop strategies, and implement practices to make change real and sustainable. I use a highly creative, collaborative, visual and iterative process to help you try on new directions. That's what makes change stick. During my time as an executive design and innovation leader at Ford Motor Company, Deb played a critical role in our success. She helped us rapidly experiment and establish the foundation we needed for a new strategic capability that we could then develop at scale. Her specific mastery in organizational design and development, along with her deep experience in building and nurturing culture and talent, helped us rapidly mature and deliver greater impact and results to our customers and business more quickly. Her experience working with diverse teams at scale helped her navigate the complexity of global enterprise effectively. I highly recommend Deb for any project that requires a strategic organization design and development partner who can deliver results.
I collaborated with Deb on several large and challenging projects for a complex family office. I usually stay away from hyperbole, but Deb was a peerless work partner. In addition to being incredibly bright and thoughtful, she is an absolute leader in creative thinking. Whatever challenges we faced, Deb came up with terrific solutions that were remarkable for their ability to not only address the presenting problem, but also larger problems within the organization. She’s a creative, a strategist, a synthesizer and an endlessly generous teacher. It’s a pleasure and privilege to work with her.
I was a client of Deb's for over two years, while building a team from the ground up. I have never worked with such an effective coach! Deb has tremendous insight, AND the ability to translate those insights effectively in ways that the client can not only understand, but can act on. The impact of her partnership is tremendous. She is an invaluable asset to any leader who is wanting to grow personally and professionally.
